Route 66 Raceway forms Alliance with Fairbury American Legion Speedway for running Prairie Dirt Classic weekend

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Effective immediately, the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet Illinois, has formed an alliance with the Fairbury American Legion Speedway . The alliance will allow for the Route 66 Raceway to utilize the experience and knowledge of the Fairbury American Legion Speedway for the Prairie Dirt Classic weekend, while providing with a excellent chance to team up with one of the premier facilities in the country.

This alliance will be witnessed immediately, as the two tracks have been working together on a weekend of racing local fans and teams wont soon forget. Working off of the very successful Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury, the Route 66 facility will host a Friday Night show, also named the Prairie Dirt Classic, presented by Chilli Man Chili. Both races will feature a winners check of $10,000 to the winner of the late-model race. By working together, the hope is that many race teams, and fans will be rewarded with large purses, and a large car count. " With both tracks this close, this idea makes great sense. We feel that Route 66 is a facility that, with their assistance, will be one of the premier Motorsports facilities, anywhere. The Prairie Dirt Classic is the most prestigious race in the state of Illinois, and car counts indicate that race teams enjoy it as well. With such national drivers as Billy Moyer Jr., Kevin Weaver, Bob Pierce, John Gill, and Billy Drake, being former winners, it becomes obvious how big this race is. By combining our efforts, with theirs, we hope to make this event huge! " states Larry Decker of Route 66 Raceway. " We are excited to be involved with a facility of their nature, and hope to exchange information, to be able to make both places showcases of Motorsports. With our marketing, and advertising knowledge, we hope to teach things in that area, while we can learn track preparation, and gain assistance in running shows in return. Everyone knows that if you can run a couple of shows together, you will get more cars and better cars. We feel that with the short mileage in between the two tracks ( approximately 60 miles) that we will be able to fully capitalize on those effects." continues Decker.

One other addition to the Route 66 Raceway team is Darin Stewart, who will be handling public relations on a part time basis. " Darin has a wide array of experience in the dirt late models, and he will be able to add his expertise with our knowledge, to create the best possible show. In addition to Route 66, Darin also handles the Fairbury American Legion Speedway public relations as well as many professional dirt late model teams, so it makes perfect sense to have everything aligned with them" stated Decker.

The alliance will be in place for the upcoming 1999 Prairie Dirt Classic Weekend, featuring the Chilli Man Chili Prairie Dirt Classic at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet IL on September 3, 1999, and the Prairie Dirt Classic by Lynn Chevrolet-Buick Inc. paying $10,000 to win, and $1,000 to start the feature., at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway on September 4, 1999.
