SHAVER SCORES AT WILLIAMS GROVE!!!

 Steve Shaver of Parkersburg,WV dominated the field Friday at Williams
Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg,PA on his way to his second STARS National DirtCar Racing League sanctioned win of the season. Aboard the Simonton Windows/Poske's Performance Parts/Rayburn Race Cars/Malcuit Racing Engines No. 30 Steve Shaver Motorsports Pontiac Grand Prix, Shaver jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag from his pole starting position and never looked back taking the $5,000 to win "The Grove 30". Gary Stuhler shot past Davey Johnson on lap 11 and chased Shaver the rest of the way coming up two car lengths short at the finish. Johnson held on for third with Chub Frank fourth and Todd Andrews fifth. Rounding out the top ten were Mike Balzano, 12th starting D.J. Myers, Nathan Durboraw, Jeremy Miller and 17th starting Kenny Pettyjohn.

 At the drop of the green Shaver bolted into the lead at the end of the
first lap with Johnson, Stuhler, Andrews and Frank trailing. Frank roared
past Andrews for fourth on lap 2 as Shaver pulled out to a 15 car length
lead by lap 10. Stuhler and Johnson battled for second for several laps in
the early going with Stuhler making his way past Johnson in turn four to
take second on lap 11. The first yellow waved on lap 12 when R.J. Conley
hit the turn three wall closing the gap between Shaver and Stuhler. Two
more laps were recorded until the yellow waved again when Mike Johnson, who was running eighth, spun in turn one. Only one more lap was put into the
book's before the yellow waved one more time as Donnie Moran and Jeff
Robinson spun in turn three with the car's of Tom Myers, Conley and Chris
Shuey also involved. The final 15 laps went caution free with Shaver
holding a three to four car length margin over Stuhler. Shaver entered
lapped traffic with two laps to go allowing Stuhler to close to within two
car lengths but Shaver cleared the traffic on the last lap keeping Stuhler
at bay as they crossed the finish line.

 The $22,000 purse event drew 43 driver's to the historic semi-banked 1/2
mile track with Andrews topping the field in time trials with a quick lap
of 21.097 seconds. BORLA EXHAUST heat race win's fell to D. Johnson,
Balzano (SCOTT PERFORMANCE WIRE heat race bonus winner), Frank and Miller.Shaver grabbed the feature pole with his win in the ISKY RACING CAMS dash while Conley scored the PRO SHOCKS "B" Main.
