Portsmouth Raceway Park

The Season closed Saturday October 2 with Butch McGill of West Union winning his first feature of the season at PRP.Actually there was going to be a first time winner this season no matter who won the race . all 20 drivers were chasing their first PRP A-main victory.

Driving champion Craig Leist took the lead at the drop of the green and led until McGill, the pole sitter, took the top spot on lap 5. Although Leist and Butch Dowdy pressured McGill at times neither could get around.

Bill Bocook, the defending track champion, finished second in points despite an injury that kept him off the track Saturday.Kenny Christy edged Aaron Bapst for third.

Jimm Leeth captured the hard charger award moving from 17 to fourth. His was the first of several good performances of drivers coming out of the B-main.

Heat winners were Barry Bragdon, Nick Bocook and Jason Montgomery. The B-main went to Jim Leeth while McGill won the dash.
