TAZEWELL SPEEDWAY RESULTS AUGUST 14, 1999

Very close racing tonight with John Thompson #38 setting
fast time, with an 11:98, #90 Jack Trammell 12:12, #5
Bryan Hendrix 12:20, #2 Mark Leach 12:36, #h17 Harold
Simpson 12:37.

At the drop of the green, Thompson beat Trammell in to
turn one, Lap 3 #7 Marty Calloway p a s s e d Leach and
Sinpson brought out the caution. Moving Leach back in to
4th place. Lap 4 Calloway again p a s s e d Leach.
Hendrix p a s s e d Trammell on lap 6. Lap 11 thru 13 it
was Thompson and Hendrix racing for the led side by side.
Lap 13 a caution for Simpson and at the same time #28
Bill Reed had a RR tire go flat, and restarted on the
rear of the field. Lap 14 Thompson and Hendrix were at it
again side by side. Behind them it was Calloway and
Trammell going at it. Lap 15 caution for Simpson again,
Calloway had just cleared Trammell. Lap 17 #91 Jason
Trammell moved by Leach to take over 4th place. At the
front of the pack Hendrix took the led from Thompson. Lap
20 it was Reed and Leach in a battle for 3rd. Lap 21
Hendrix while leading spun in turn 2 and Calloway with no
where to go hitting Hendrix head on. Giving the led back
to Thompson, followed by Calloway, Jason Trammell, Reed,
Leach. Lap 24 Reed moved in to the 2nd place. Lap 28 #41
John Neal lost an air cleaner on the front stretch, bring
out a caution. Track officials removed the damaged sheet
metal off of Calloway while under caution. With Thompson
in the led and Reed nip and tuck trying to take the led
away. Jason Trammell in his best run ever was putting the
presssure on Thompson and Reed. Lap 39, the white flag in
hand, Reed got under Thompson going in to turn 1 going
for the win. But at the checkered Thompson pulled back
out front to take the win.

England beat Houston in to turn one on, the back stretch
Houston moved by England. Then England laid a bumper to
the back of Houston spinnig Houston and track officials
sent England to the back of the field. On the restart it
was Houston, Bull, #91 Randall Self, B. Long, Gamble. Lap
3 England spun coming off turn 2, the restart remained
the same. By lap 4 and 5 it was Self under Bull and
Gamble under B. Long and Houston out front. Gamble
crossed it up and #2 (wht) Mike Hodges moved in to the
5th place, then spun on his own coming off turn 2.
Restart it was Houston, Bull, Self, B. Long, Gamble. Lap
7 England moved back up in to 5th coming from the back
twice. Lap 12 thur 14 it was Self, B. Long, England 3
wide going for 3rd spot, with England holding on for 4th.
Lap 23 England moved in to the 3rd place. At the
checkered it was Houston taking the win.

Fast Qual. #18 Rick Welch 14:49, #7 Brian Smith 14:56.
#26 Anthony Morgan 14:63, #0 Rex Coffey 14:66, #88 Chris

Another wild night in Modified Street. Welch jumped out
front on the start, in back of Welch #6 Regan Debusk and
#3 (org) Tim Hatfield got together on the back stretch
and Hatfield went over the 3rd turn wall. Hatfield was
ok, he made that long walk up the outside of turn 3 and
left his racer in the field down below till after the
races. With no laps on the board a complete restart, only
this time it was Welch and Smith side by side. Lap 2
Welch rode the back stretch wall and Smith moved in to
the led with Brooks moving in to 2nd. On the restart it
was Smith, Brooks, Coffey, #40 Allen Mayes, #78 Brian
Dobbs. Lap 4 Smith went high in turn 2 and Brooks took
comand of the led. Lap 7, Dobbs rubbed the wall in turn 2
moving #9 Darrell Saylor in to 5th. Lap 8 Coffey moved in
to the 2nd place. Laps 12/13/14 it was Saylor and Dobbs
going at it for 5th. Lap 15 Smith slowed moving Saylor to
4th and Dobbs holding on to the 5th place. Brooks went on
to take the win over Coffey.

PURE STREET
With 30 pure street cars taking to the high banks of THE
TAZ you know there is going to be alot of action. #56
Tony Horton took the led, then before they got around
tothe flag #3 Jesse Hoover moved by Horton and we had 1
lap on the board. With 1 Lap in the books #75 Donnie
Miracle and #7 (blk/pkn) Mike Bright spun on the front
stretch and #7 (blk/wht) Bobby Bean lost a RR Tire. On
the restart it was Hoover, Horton, #28 Buster Cupp, #3
(Blk/wht/red) Bobby Moore Jr., #10 Jerry Collett. Lap 4,
with lap traffic ahead it was 3 with for the led Hoover,
Horton, Cupp. Lap 5 Horton took over the top spot. Lap 6,
#97 Bo Hall spun in turn 2, #83 Jim Overholt spun in turn
1 with a flat tire. Lap 7 Collett got by #3 of Bobby
Moore Jr. Lap 12 Hoover moved pass Horton on the back
stretch and a caution came out, giving the led back to
Horton. Lap13 #50 Jonathan Miracle moved by #06 Mitch
Fergerson and Miracle spun at the same time #e3 Eddie
Weaver lost a tire in turn 2 then passed 5 cars (the tire
that is) Weaver spun on the back stretch. Now down to the
finish it was Horton, Hoover, Cupp, Collett, Moore,
coming to the checkered flag off turn 4, Collett got just
below Cupp and 3 cars wrecking just past the checkered
flag, Cupp was the only one of the 3 to finish in the top
5. Horton took the Win, followed by Hoover, Fergerson,
Bright, Cupp.

At the drop of the green flag it was Keith "Beaver"
Chapman chewing up the field. Lap 5 #28 and #3 spun
coming off turn 4. At the Checkered "Beaver" had cut down
the field and took the checkered flag.
