LABOR DAY WEEKEND;
Regular
Show Slated For Sunday, September 12
SELINSGROVE,
PA – Selinsgrove Speedway’s open wheel doubleheader featuring Sprint Cars
and Super Sportsman was canceled Monday afternoon following one rain
postponement on Sunday, September 5 and a forecast for heavy rain on Labor Day
Monday.
“We
called off the race at 1:30 on Monday as a convenience for our fans and race
teams who would have to travel from far away,” said a track spokesperson.
“The forecast and radar showed heavy rain would be arriving at the track
around the time we would be opening our gates. And that’s exactly what
happened.”
According to track officials, the event will not be rescheduled for the
traveling Super Sportsman division.
Selinsgrove Speedway will present a regular show of Sprint Cars, Late
Models and Pro Stocks this Sunday, September 12 beginning at 7 p.m., pending the
completion of the Tuscarora 50 the previous night at Port Royal Speedway.
Race
fans and teams should note that if Port
Royal Speedway’s Tuscarora 50 for Sprint Cars on Saturday, September 11 is
postponed by rain to Sunday, September 12, Selinsgrove Speedway will cancel its
racing program slated for that evening.
Also coming up at Selinsgrove Speedway is the 17th Annual
Alexander Family Dealerships National Open for Sprint Cars on Saturday,
September 18 at 7 p.m. The National Open will be a 30-lap main event for Sprint
Cars paying $5,000 to win.
Track officials also announced that Sprint Cars will not be competing on
the speedway’s final racing program slated for Sunday, September 26. The final
race date will now feature a 100-lap Enduro plus Pro Stock and Four Cylinder
Championship events. A fourth division may be announced at a later date.
