DOG HOLLOW SPEEDWAYSTILE IS TOP DOG IN DOG HOLLOW SPECIAL
STRONGSTOWN, PA- Sam Stile of Charleroi, PA took home the $1,500 Top Dog Special for Late Models Friday night at Dog Hollow Speedway. Joining Stile in victory lane were: Louie Jacoby of Fernwood in the Super Stocks, J.R. Rowe of Mapleton in the Street Stocks, and Steve Diehl of Gallitzen in the Pure Stocks. The 35 lap late model main came down for the start with John Yamrick and Rodney Phillips on the front row. Yamrick darted into the lead at the start, but a red flag on the second attempt at starting halted the action. Mike Blose lost control and spun in turn one, collecting Gene Kaine, Ken Bash, and Chris Harr. Only Bash could continue. On the third attempt, Yamrick took the lead, and led the first lap, then it was Dave Satterlee who led. Satterlee had up to a straight-a-way lead by the 8th lap, and was working lapped traffic. While he worked lapped traffic, Sam Stile was working his way towards the front from 10th. By the 14th lap, Stile used the lapped traffic to his advantage, and he took the lead from Satterlee. Satterlee battled back three laps later and regained the lead, only to have Stile once again get the position. Once out front, Stile becan to pull away, and Satterlee retired with a flat tire. Stile then held off a persistant John Britsky and Bob Wearing, Jr, who came from 17th. The top five at the waving of John Replogle’s checkered flag were: Stile, Britsky, Wearing, Jr., Scott Rhodes, and Ken Schaltenbrand, Jr. Qualifying events were won by Rodney Phillips, Andy Fries, John Britsky, and Matt Urban. Bob Wearing, Jr. won the consoluation race. Al Zuccolotto and Rick Steel led the super stocks to the green flag, with Zuccolotto taking the lead. He held the top spot for twelve laps, before Louie Jacoby finally put the move on him, and took the lead. As the race was winding down, Denny Petyak was closing in on Jacoby, but ran out of time. The top five were: Jacoby, Petyak, Zuccolotto, Yvette Hahn, and Steel. Tom Snyder was sixth, but. was then disqualifued for running alcohol. Shawn McGarvey and Al Zuccolotto won the heats. JR Rowe and Fred Perkey brought the street stock feature down to the start, with Rowe taking the lead. While he may have led from green to checkered he had lots of pressure, first from Joe Kelly, and then from Al Atallah. The official top five were: Rowe, Tony Fama, Chuck Demhurst, Shawn Mogle, and Bill Lyons. Joe Kelly, Al Atallah, and Bob Kelly finished second through fourth, but all three were disqualified for being under weight. Heat race wins belong to JR Rowe, Jerry Lower, Fred Persey, and Tom Tuite. Rich Britton won the B-main. The pure stock feature went green with Daren Desch and Tony Himes leading the way. Desch took the lead for the first lap, then Steve Diehl took over at the top. Once in control he never looked back. the top five at the checkered were: Diehl, Jim Kirsch, Desch, Mark Olechoviski, and John Mazey. Heat race winners included: Daren Desch and Jim Krish. DOG TRACKS: 112 cars were signed into the pits, including: 33 late models, 15 super stocks, 44 street stocks, and 20 pure stocks....Dog Hollow has revised their end of season schedule, including: This weeks Street stock special, paying $600 to win and $75 to start.....September 24 is the final point night, The small block modifiesd are also on the schedule for that night...Fireworks will be presented on October 2nd., and school bus races will be held Sat. Oct. 9th. All race times until October, are gates at 5 stands at 6, racing at 8 PM.
