FRANK WIN'S A THRILLER AT P.R.P.!!!

 Chub Frank of Sugar Grove,PA scored his first STARS National DirtCar
Racing League sanctioned win of the season Saturday pocketing $10,000 for
his triumph in the "Glockner Firecracker 100" at Portsmouth Raceway Park in
Portsmouth,OH. Driving the Corry Laser Technology/Rocket Chassis/Draime
Enterprises No. 1* Frank Racing Monte Carlo, Frank wrestled the lead away
from Donnie Moran on lap 92 and then held off Tim Hitt for the victory.
"Boy does this feel great!", said the very happy winner. "That was a great
race from my seat. I hope the fan's liked it. Tim and I went at it early
and then Donnie joins the mix and when he took the lead from me I got mad
and told myself I'm not losing this race. The lapped traffic was tough but
I just worked my way back to Donnie and luckily the low groove worked. My
crew did a super job in getting this car ready. They deserve a lot of
credit too".

 Moran, who had started 18th on the field, lost the second spot when he
tagged Frank in the rear on a lap 93 restart and spun in turn three putting
Hitt in the runner-up spot. Steve Shaver, starting 20th, wound up third
behind Hitt while 14th starter Steve Casebolt Jr. was fourth and Jackie
Boggs, the 23rd starter, finished fifth. Moran, the last car on the lead
lap, wound up sixth followed by John Mason, Craig Leist, Rodney Combs and
Barry Bragdon.

 Hitt powered into the lead at the drop of the green closely followed by
Frank, Bragdon, Shawn Holliday and Leist. Hitt led by no more than a car
length and that whittled down even less when he caught lapped traffic on
lap 11. Frank pulled alongside of Hitt on lap 15 and then grabbed the lead
the next circuit. Moran used the outside groove to break into the top five
by lap 19 then moved to fourth on lap 24 and then to third one lap later.
Frank never could pull away from Hitt as the lapped traffic gave the
leader's a handful. Casebolt Jr. broke into the top five on lap 36 with
Shaver and Boggs closing quickly on Casebolt Jr. as Moran reeled in Frank
and Hitt on lap 44. Moran took the runner-up spot from Hitt on lap 48 but
before the lap could be completed the races third caution flew slowing the
torrid pace.

 Frank had a clear track ahead of him and opened up a four car advantage on
Hitt by lap 55. Shaver made a bold move on the outside of turn four on lap
58 to blast from sixth to fourth. Moran moved back in on Hitt taking the
spot on lap 69 and then reeled in Frank on lap 82 as the leader was in
heavy lapped traffic. Moran used the top groove through turn four to grab
the lead on lap 86 with Frank dropping back three car lengths. Moran was
slowed by lapped traffic allowing Frank to close back in on lap 90 and then
raced side by side with Moran until taking the lead back on lap 92. Once in
front and with Moran spinning on the lap 93 restart, Frank held off Hitt by
four car lengths for the win.

 The second of two consecutive night's of racing at P.R.P. drew 45 driver's
to the semi-banked 1/3 mile for the $38,000 purse. Boggs topped the field
in time trials with his quick lap of 15.539 seconds. BORLA EXHAUST heat
race's fell to Aaron Bapst, Mason, Delmas Conley and Combs. Hitt scored the
ISKY RACING CAMS dash while Aaron Scott and Moran copped the PRO SHOCKS "B"
Mains.
