Even though he led 87 laps Stuhler of Green Castle, Pa,needed some bad luck for current STARS point leader Donnie. Moran in order to pick up the $10,000 top prize and become the sixth different Clash winner in as .many races. Moran of Dresden Ohio, took the lead from Stuhler on lap 63. and was widening his. advantage until disaster struck on lap 72. As he was attempting to lap Jack Boggs of Grayson. Ky. Moran and Boggs made contact.They came across the finish line the front of Moran’s car stuck under the rear of Boggs’ car. When both drivers had to Stop, Moran’s time at the point was over and he and Boggs were at the rear of the cars less than two taps down. Chub Frank, who had been either second or third since lap 18moved into second after the accident . The winner of the Glockner Firecracker 100 over the July 4 weekend, Frank used his experience to pressure Stuhler over the next several laps, but was unable to get around to the lead. The leaders were in lapped Traffic over the final few circuits, Stuhler was able to keep at least one lapped vehicle between himself and Frank over the closing five circuits. Moran was able to battle back to take fourth, just behind Mike Balzano currently second in the STARS points race. Moran may feel snake-bitten at PRP. After winning a preliminary race on July 2. Moran moved from 18th to take the lead in the Firecracker 100 the next night, With seven laps left, Moran, Frank and Tim Hitt went down the back stretch three abreast with Moran's car looping around as the trio started to go into the three. Jackie Boggs of Grayson,KY took the lead from the pole and led four out of the first five laps. Stuhler, who led lap three , retook the advantage on lap six. Boggs shuffled backed through the pack to finish ninth, the first car one lap down. His father, Jack Boggs, was one position ahead in eighth, the last car on the lead lap. Aaron Scott of Newark,Ohio. and Delmas Conley of Wheelersburg Ohio, shared the Timber Wolf Hard Charger award after starting side-by-side on the last row and finishing 10th and 11th, respectively. Shawn Holliday turned in the quick qualifying time, but ran into early trouble and was the first car out of the 24 car field.
