SOUTHERN ALL STAR RACING SERIES

PRESS RELEASE

(SUPER LATE MODEL DIRT SERIES)

Jason Smith Sweeps SAS Action At TST; Wins Super Late Model Event

TALLADEGA, ALJason Smith of Laurel, MS has found it! Not sure what that is, but he has now won five out of the last five races he has entered including an unheard of sweep at TST by winning Friday and Saturday night's Southern All Star events.

Before a record, standing room only crowd, Smith in his GRT Monte Carlowould once again set fast time over a pungent field of 63 Southern All Star Super Late Models with a fast lap of 15.12 on the 3/10 mile clay banked oval.

The main event would provide two and three wide racing. The track was as good as it gets. Drivers were racing from top to bottom as the track rubbered up across the entire racing surface. The wild feature would be slowed by only two cautions during the 28 minute main event. Smith would go flag to flag in the 50 lap main event but had tohold off a relentless John Jones for the final 14 laps as the two got it on, along with Mark Mears in his second outing in a brand new Rayburn. Smith would cross the line with Rock Springs, GA product "Jumpin' John Jones hot on Smith's heels closely followed by Southern Star 1998 Rookie of the Year Mark Mears. James Cline finished fourth in the Stinger car which he had previously driven out of the Bo Shirley stable and SAS points leader Jamie Perry came in fifth while fighting an ill running engine.

Rounding out the top ten were Bo Shirley of gasden, AL, , Duayne Hommel of Newport, TN, from the B-Main, Tony Stewart after qualfying his GRT 14th in the 63 car field and working the hub like a mad man, birthday boy Greg Skinner, and North Carolina's Jeff Smith after slipping back after a 6th place qualfying run.

Tony Stewart ran a hard race. Drove very well as he was in three wide traffic early in the race and then moved to the bottom of the track and carried the left front off the bottom as he worked traffic and was competitive all night long. .

The Next Southern All Stars Super Late Model event will be at Saturday & Sunday November 13th & 14th at the Thunder Valley Speedway in Lawndale, NC, a 100 lap $10,000 to win.
