RAY AND TIMCHAK STAR, HUSTED & METZ ONLY NEW HVS WINNERS

                                                July 24, 1999

CLEARFIELD, PA-Glenn Ray of Tyrone won his second Budweiser Late Model feature of the season, while Jerry Timchak of Houtzdale won his fourth Weisgarber Auto Sales Street Stock feature, and the extra distance extra money special. Spencer Husted of West Decatur won his first Sids Subs Small Block Modified feature on the season, while Paul Metz of Julian won his first Keystone Computer Four Cylinder feature of the season. Warren Casher of Black Moshannon won his 5th NAPA Pure Stock feature of 1999.

Glenn Ray and Duane Stiner brought the late models down for the start, with the pair going door-to-door for the first lap, before Ray shot into the lead. Ray held down the top position the entire 25 laps, but had to contend with Gary Deem, Stiner, and Luke Hoffner, but Deem spun, and tailed the field. Hoffner and Stiner continued their pursuit of Ray, but he had the SR1 in the right groove, and picked up his second victory of the season. Stiner held on for second, with Hoffner, Kevin Lindemuth, and Jeff Braim rounding out the top five. Heat race wins went to Glenn Ray and Duane Stiner.

Craig Casher beat Fred Luzier into turn one, and led the first three laps of the modified feature, before Spencer Husted powered to the outside and took the lead. While he led Mike Stine was making it three wide coming from 13th, and with ten laps to go, Stine had the runner up position, but he needed a caution to get one last shot at Husted, and with two laps to go, he got the break he needed. As the green flag fell, Stine gave it his all, but this was Husted’s night, as he went on to get his first win in nearly a year. Stine held on for second, Bobby Roos was third, Bob Garvey was fourth, and Tim Owens was fifth. Bobby Roos and Bob Garvey collected heat race wins.

Emory Rinehart, Jr. and Craig Lobb brought the street stock field down for the start, as Rinehart shot into the lead, with Lobb a close second. Rinehart looked to be headed for his 8th win of the year, when he got tangled with a lapped car, and had to tail the field on lap 15. With ten laps to go Jerry Timchak assumed the lead. He had to contend with Doug Tibbens and a fast closing Trent Ogden, but Timchak was not to be denied as he crossed under Mike Frisco’s double checkered flags and got his 4th win of 1999. Ogden was second with Tibbens, Todd Mathews, and Lobb rounding out the top five. Emory Rinehart Jr. Craig Lobb won the preliminaries.

Paul Hummel and Paul Metz headed up the four cylinder field, with Hummel taking the lead. Hummel cruised to the winners circle and picked up his career first feature win at the track, temporarily! The winners crew opted not be tore down, and thus, was disqualified. The win went to second place Metz. It was his first win of the season. Cecilia Olson, JR Toner, Randy Luzier, and Chris Peterson completed the top five. Qualifying wins went to Chris Luzier, Paul Metz, and Joel Porter.

Warren Casher beat Bob Bowery to the start finish line at the start of the pure stock feature and never looked back. Casher had to look out the side window a few times, as Dan London tried everything he had to get by, but Casher was determined to get his fifth win of 1999. The top five were: Casher, London, Kevin Clark, Bowery, and Keith Bailey. Dan London and Frank Little won the heats.
