PITTSBURGH'S PENNSYLVANIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY

9/4/99

(724) 853-RACE (7223)/ www.ppms.com

IMPERIAL, PA…. Ed Ferree of Saxonburg visited the Late Model victory lane for the first time this season Saturday at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, on Colussy Chevrolet - Pittsburgh Circle Track Club night. After post race inspection, Ferree's apparent win was in doubt, and an official ruling will not be made until further inspection of his spec engine this week.

Weirton, WV's Robert Freshour claimed his second win in the Limited Late Models. Wayne Tessean of Austintown, OH clinched his second consecutive M. Stahl E-Modified track title by notching his tenth victory this year. Frankie Schneider of Sheraden won for the fourth time in the Schneider Truck Spectator Stocks, and Al Atallah secured his first championship in the division. After starting last, Kennedy Township's Tony Sinicrope collected his fourth straight Amateur Stock checkered flag.

1999 Track Champion Lou Bradich started on the pole of the Late Model 25 lap feature, and quickly took command over second starting Mike Cecere. During a lap eight caution, Cecere developed mechanical problems that forced him to the pits, handing second over to the seventh starting Ferree. On the restart, Ferree immediately began pressuring Bradich and was able to take the lead as they completed lap twelve. Once in front, Ferree kept the point the rest of the distance. Bradich, Rick Dawson, Doug Crawford and Alex Ferree completed the top five. Rounding out the top ten were: Jim Zarin, Doug Dodd (subbing for Steve Baker in car #84), Bill Knepper, Ricky Thomas, and Mark Banal (subbing for B.A. Malcuit in car #04). Mark Moats was the Monarch Oil Hard Charger. Alex Ferree, Crawford and Knepper won the heat races.

Robert Freshour made up for a lot of disappointing evenings by claiming the Limited Late Model 20 lap feature. He was followed to the finish by a fast closing Dave Wade. Pete Loria was third, Len Dobrosielski fourth and Todd Cerenzia fifth. George Kowatic, John Pavlick, Jim Stephans, Brandon Wearing and Jon Hodgkis completed the top ten.

Wayne Tessean took the lead near the halfway point of the M. Stahl E-Modified feature, and never looked back. Monarch Oil Hard Charger Larry Kugel was second. Early race leader D.J.Miller finished third, and Russ Matejka and Jeff Broniszewski were next in line. Scott Gunn, Jim Plance, Jim Petrelle, Mike Ross and Bruce Dreistadt completed the top ten. Heat race wins went to Monarch Oil Hard Charger Larry Kugel and D.J. Miller.

Doug Foster set the pace to start the Schneider Truck Spectator Stocks feature. Near the halfway point, Frankie Schneider Jr. roared into the lead and held off Neal Isiminger's continued pressure for the win. Foster was third, Danny Rich charged to fourth and Pat Weldon was fifth. Completing the top ten were: Frank Schneider Sr., Al Atallah, Fred Schneider, and Pate Weldon. Rich and Atallah won the preliminaries. Isiminger was the Monarch Oil/Wolf's Head Hard Charger.

After staring last, Tony Sinicrope drove to his fourth straight Amateur Stock victory. Bill Capo was second, Bob Schwartzmiller third, Mike McKee fourth and Bob Seimon fifth.

This Saturday, September 11th, is the final night for points in the Late Models, Limited Late Models, M. Stahl E-Modifieds, and Schneider Truck Spectator Stocks. Gates open at 5pm with racing at 7pm. Coming September 17th-19th is the "11th Annual Pittsburgher 100". For more information, call 724 - 853-RACE (853-7223), or visit our website at www.ppms.com.
