The Wheeler Trackside Late Models, appropriately prepared for a ‘Run What You Brung” race saw competitors from deep in the field come through the pack. Late Mode! action began with Doug Burkholder, Frank Plessinger and Rick Singleton scoring heat wins. As the feature began, the polesitter Burkholder moved into the lead. As Burkholder was racking up laps in the first starting position, several were moving up through the field including Mike Blose from the 21st starting position, Andy Fries from the 22nd starting position and Chuck Clise from the 14 starting position. By lap seven, Blose was up to third position and lap 15 scored Blose In the second spot. A late race caution and restart found the leader Burkholder being tagged on the restart and relegated to the pits. From the restart Blose inherited the lead and continued on to lead the final laps and take the win, the top five finishers were Blose in first, Singleton in second, Fries in third, Clise in fourth and Dave Norton in fifth.
