TAZEWELL SPEEDWAY 

RESULTS SUNDAY SEPT. 19, 1999

Night of Champions to start off the afternoon TAZEWELL
SPEEDWAY Presented the trophies to the top 3 in each
class.

IN LATE MODEL THE 1999 TRACK CHAMPION went to
.........BILLY "THE KID" OGLE JR...........
2ND IN POINTS...JACK TRAMMELL
3RD IN POINTS...STACY "THE SHERIFF" BOLES
VOTED FAVORITE DRIVER...SCOTT SEXTON


In Late Model Action Ogle jumped out front of fast
qualifier Steve Smith (12.85). Ogle led till lap 12 when
Jason Trammell spun on the front stretch and John
Thompson went to the pits for for repairs, but Thompson
rejoined the rear of the field before the green waved.
On the restart it was Ogle, Steve Smith, Randall Chupp,
Ronnie Johnson, Rex Richey. Lap 20 Brian Hendrix spun in
turn 2. Lap 25 Mark Leach spun in turn 4 in front of
leader Ogle crushing the right side of Ogle's Warrior,
track official tried to straighten the bent sheet metal,
but when one of Ogle Crew came on to the track Ogle was
sent to the Pits for repairs. Ogle's Warrior was smoking.
On the restart it was Smith, Chupp, Johnson, Richey,
Terry Wolfenbarger. Laps 32 thru 40 Chupp ran the low
side under Chupp, till Lap 40 when the caution flew for
Richey. Restart it was S. Smith, Chupp, Johnson,
Wolfenbarger, #11 Brian Smith. With S. Smith slipping
high on the start in turn 2 Chupp and Johnson passed S.
Smith. Lap 41, 5 cars spun in turn one. Lap 42
Wolfenbarger got by S. Smith, Johnson had a tire go down
bring out a caution and Smith getting sent back in front
of Wolfenbarger. Restart of lap 43 it was Chupp, S.
Smith, Wolfenbarger, B. Smith and Jason Trammell had
moved back up in to the 5th place after his earlier spin,
Johnson joined the rear of the field in front of the
lapped cars. Lap 44 Vic Hill got in to Brian Hendrix,
caving in the side of Hendrix's Stinger, both were able
to continue. At the Checkered it was Chupp, S. Smith,
Wolfenbarger, B. Smith, Jason Trammell. THE TAZ took on
rubber and got dry fast as the cars were turning faster
times in the race than they qualified.

IN THUNDER AND LIGHTING ACTION

IN THUNDER AND LIGHTING THE 1999 TRACK CHAMPION went to
..............MITCH HOUSTON...........
2. BUBBA LONG
3. RANDALL SELF
Voted Favorite Driver...MITCH HOUSTON

Alot of new cars with the NEW LOOK running the 2000
Rules. Looks more like a Limited Late Model.

On the start new comer Donnie Lane #6 got into the front
stretch wall damaging the nose piece, with no laps on the
board it was a complete restart. On the complete restart
it was #7 Danny Gibson jumping into the led, followed by
#2 Mike Hodges also with the new look, #52 Troy Eads,
Gibson, #8 Marlin Bull. Lap 10 Mitch Houston #22 spun in
turn 4 and track officials sent Eads to the pits with a
smoking transmission. Putting #10 Bubba Long into the 5th
place. Lap 11, Ernie Stewart #31 spun in turn 4 and David
Gamble #2, also with the new look stopped to keep from
hitting Stewart. On the restart Gamble moved in to the
5th place and on lap 13 Long slowed in turn 4. Lap 17,
Hodges running 2nd lost a drive shaft and spun in turn
one. On the restart it was Gibson, Lane, Bull, #91
Randall Self, Stewart. Lap 18, Gamble on the low side of
the track going for 5th spun in turn 4. Lap 19, Stewart
passed Self for 4th place. Lap 23 Lane went high on the
back stretch and Bull ducked under Lane to take over the
2nd place. At the checkered it was Gibson, Bull, Lane,
Stewart, Self.

IN MODIFIED STREET THE 1999 TRACK CHAMPION went to

At the drop of the green it was #7 Brian Smith and #88
Chris Brooks on the low side, neck and neck. Lap 6,
Leonard Bray #17 touched the 3rd turn wall and Tim
Hatfield #3 spun. Restart it was Smith, Brooks, #55 Doug
Calabs, #40 Alan Mayes, #9 Darrell Saylor. Back in the
field it was the #26 of Anthony Morgan, that started dead
last on the move on the low side of the track. Lap 12.
#m44 Chuck Thode spun in turn 4 in front of the leaders.
the top 4 stayed the same on the restart with Morgan now
in the 5 place. Lap 14 Morgan passed Mayes on the high
side in turn 2 to take over 4th place. Only to have Thode
spin again and Morgan getting sent back to 5th behind
Mayes. Lap 15, Morgan completed the pass on Mayes again.
With the white flag waving Morgan was putting on a show,
passing Calabs on the high side coming off turn 4 to pick
up 3rd. At the checkered it was Smith, Brooks, Morgan,
Calabs, Mayes.

Jesse Hoover #3 got the jump and with one lap in the
books #4 Bobby Moore spun in turn 2 and #808 Marty Bain
did a 360 coming off turn 4 and held his position.
Restart it was Hoover, #28 Buster Cupp, Bain, #56 Tony
Horton, #10 Jerry Collett. Lap 2 Bain moved in to 2nd
place then spun coming off turn 4. Lap 5, #e3 Eddie had
moved in to the 4th place only to have a caution to come
out for him. Lap 6, #19 Ralph Younck spun on the back
stretch and in turn 4, #3 Bobby Moore Jr. lost a tire.
Lap 9, #27 Gary Harville and #7 Bobby Bean got together
on the front stretch with Bean hitting the inside wall
and getting in to the air on 1 wheel. On the restart
Jonathan Miracle #50 running 4th got on the low side of
the 3rd place running Collett. At the flag stand it was
Hoover, Horton, Collett, Cupp, #94 Gary Dobbs.

Ran 2 heat races to get the line up for the feature.
First heat won by Jack Courtney #j1. Second heat won by
Keith Chapman.

Feature Chapman jumped in to the lead with a lot of good
racing going on behind him, I think the 4 cly's are
catching on alot of people asking for rules. The rules
for 2000 are not done yet when they are I will e-mail
anyone a set that wants them. Behind Chapman they were
running 2 and 3wide swapping postion 2 and 3 times every
lap. but in the end no one was able to swap the led with
Chapman.
