Charleston IL

Steve Hillard became the 17th different feature winner here on Saturday night, as he jumped into the lead on the start, and cruised to a relatively uncontested win. Piloting his Budda Enterprises/Tatman’s Collison Team/MasterSbilt, started on the outside front row, next to pole sitter, Ernie Barrow jumped to the lead right at the green, and led all 30 laps for a $2,000 victory. "We’ve waited a long time time for one of these races, and tonight we finally got it" said the elated Hillard. Following Hillard, were Bob Pierce, Kevin Claycomb, Jeff Martin, and Dion Deason. Rounding out the top ten, were Doug McCammon, Scott James, Roger Long, Doug Ault, and Ernie Barrow. Terry Eaglin of Versailles In, set fast time besting the 30 car field. Heat winners were, Steve Barnett, Steve Hillard, Ernie Barrow, and Doug McCammon. Consolation winners were: Jeff Martin, and Roger Long

Notes.....The win, continues Hillard’s hot streak adding to multiple wins at Farmer City, and Fairbury IL.....The field was bolstered by several northern Illinois drivers, when rain storm moved through the state causing most tracks to cancel early.....4th place finisher Jeff Martin’s run was made even more amazing, considering it was first run in a late model... The car owned by Rickleman Trucking is a team car to Marvin Burton. Jeff Martin is a dominating modified driver, and hopes to eventually move to late-models.

Official Finish:

Steve Hillard, Bob Pierce, Kevin Claycomb, Jeff Martin, Dion Deason, Doug McCammon, Scott James, Roger Long, Doug Ault, Ernie Barrow, Tory Collins, Steve Barnett, Brad Barrow, Bob Pohlman Jr, Jim Partipilo, Dan Sturgeon, Terry Eaglin,Mike Bechelli, Shawn Negengard, Chuck Baird

Bob Pierce," The Tall Cool One" showed that he is still a threat to win here on Sunday night, as the Oakwood Illinois driver, put his Murphy Trucking/K Motion Racing Engine/ CJ Rayburn into victory lane. The victory by Pierce, made for the 18th different winner in the Northern All Stars Late Model Series, was worth $3,000 to the veteran driver.

Current NALMS points leader Steve Barnett hopped into the lead at the start, but exchanged the lead with John Gill and Mark Anderson several times, in an exciting battle that had the crowd standing throughout the race. On lap 15 Bob Pierce slipped to the inside of leader John Gill, and pulled away to a narrow victory. Chasing Pierce to the line were; John Gill, Doug McCammon, Steve Barnett, and Mark Anderson. Rounding out the top ten were; Steve Hillard, Doug Ault, Kevin Weaver, Steve Casebolt, and Jim Curry. " What a fun race, I haven't had that much fun in a long time...This new Rayburn worked great, and the track turned out great. We always like to run well here, since it’s home...." said a very happy Bob Pierce. The entire racing show, which was delayed approximately 2 hours due to track problems, yielded an awesome surface for the racing, which showcased 3 and four wide racing throughout the evening. Bob Pierce set fast time topping the 41 car field. Heat winners were Steve Barnett, Mark Anderson, John Gill, and Steve Casebolt. Consolation races were won by Jim Curry, and Roger Long.

Notes...Current NALMS points leader Steve Barnett, who has not scored a victory this year, finally led his first feature of the year.....Kevin Weaver, started on the tail of the second consolation, and finished third to transfer to the feature, where he charged up to an impressive 8th place finish....Norman IN. driver Jim Curry also made an impressive charge, following a conolation win, and working his way to 5th, then dropping back to 10th....The NALMS heads to the Legendary Lawrencebug Speedway in Lawrenceburg IN for a race on August 14.
