RAIN POSTPONES HAV-A-TAMPA SHOOTOUT UNTIL OCTOBER 23

WOODSTOCK, GA – Rain postponed Saturday night’s 10th Annual Hav-A-Tampa

Shootout at Dixie Speedway until October 23. With the first 18 starting

spots already filled for the $52,000-to-win season finale for the United

Dirt Track Racing Association Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Racing Series, the

consolation races and main event will be run on the rescheduled date.

Going into The Shootout, Wendell Wallace of Batesville, AR leads Dale

McDowell of Rossville, GA by 31 points for the 1999 Hav-A-Tampa

Championship. After Friday 20-lap Borla Muffler Heat Races, Wallace won the

fourth heat to start The Shootout on the outside of the second row, and

McDowell won the fifth heat and will start the big show from the inside of

row three.

Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC starts on the pole position for The Shootout. He

won the first heat race after posting fast time honors among the 81 entries

with a time of 14.392 seconds around the 3/8-mile clay oval. The 1995

Shootout champion Bill Frye of Greenbrier, AR won the second heat race and

starts this year’s event from the outside of the front row.

In other heat race action, 1997 HAT Champion and 1997 Shootout winner Billy

Moyer of Batesville, AR won the third heat, and the sixth heat was won by

the 1996 HAT Champion Freddy Smith of Knoxville, TN. The six heat races

took the top three finishers to make up the “Elite 18” drivers that will

start in the first nine rows for The Shootout.

On October 23, the gates at Dixie Speedway will open at 2 p.m. with a HAT

Drivers Autograph Session in the main grandstand area at 4 p.m. Hot laps

are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Dixie Speedway is located two miles

west of I-575 on State Road 92. The race day information line is (770)
