PAXTON CLAIMS OAKSHADE CHAMPIONSHIP

Toledo, Ohio UMP Late Model ace Justin Paxton make it a clean sweep Saturday night at the Oakshade Raceway by collecting his heat win and then roaring to the season championship feature win and in the process, taking is first track championship at the 3/8 mile dirt oval. The Paxton Equipment /B&B Wrecking #34 started ninth and worked his way through heavy traffic for his first championship at Oakshade. Greg Martin jumped into a early lead and held off Hillard Miller and then Kris Patterson before Patterson suffered a flat tire at the mid-race point. Paxton worked his way up to the front with reckless abandon and held off Rod Schroyer at the end for his biggest win ever. Martin settled for a respectable third while Miller came home fourth and Todd Nuding brought in a fifth place finish. The second five were Tony Marks, Bill Hahn, Todd Schroyer, Rob Mitchell, and Mike McKnight.

In the 360 Sprint action, Mike Linder won the battle, but Todd Heller won the war at the Fremont, Ohio driver passed Heller late in the feature event for his first victory of 1999. With his runner-up finish. Heller was crowned as the track champion at Oakshade. Kyle Sauder came home third followed by Jody Keegan and Randy Hammer.

Brad Kendall was victorious in the Sportsman Championship feature as Chris Smith received enough points with his second place finish to earn the track title. Casey Noonan, Mike Stockmaster, and Kevin Mack rounded out the top five.

After the dust settled in the Bomber championship battle, it was John Brooks picking up his first ever A main win and what better way, then on Championship night. Brice Luttrell, with a seventh placer tally, secured first place in the Bomber points for the track championship. James Scott placed ahead of Kurt Lancaster, Jeremy Grover, and Dan Bleikamp in the title feature. The Bomber B, C, and D mains were taken by Rick Stivers, Ted Goets Jr., and Brian McCabe. A total of 205 race cars participated on championship night. The American Late Model Series by Sunoco visits the Wauseon Ohio speedplant next Saturday with Sportsman/Trucks and Bombers filling out the show. All champions will be officially rewarded at the Speedway banquet in November.
