The action was fast and furious at Lakeville Speedway on Ray's Garage night as
the American Payroll Advance Late Models were getting their last
crack at getting set for next weeks first leg of the triple crown races
that will pay the winner $4,000. Before the checkered flag flew on the
25 lap main, there was a lot of beat up cars as you would have thought
that the big money was up for grabs this week with all the tight and close
racing go on. Rick Moore set the pace for the opening two laps before Charlie
Duncan charged by but his time at the top lasted only a quarter of a lap
as a flat tire stopped his run. That put Wooster's Blaine Aber into the
lead as he slipped past Moore when Duncan slowed. From that point on, Aber
and his Turn Left Performance, Final Touch Graphics, and Holmes Oil Co.
#81 stayed out front but Dean Alexander, Mark Uhler, Jim Cushing, Ryan
Markham, and Matt Aber were duking it out in a pack right behind Aber.
Markham's #5 took a beating early on as he was out on lap 11 and Matt Aber's
#81b lost poweron the 18th lap. With four laps to go Cushing, who started
16th, motored past Alexander as Dave Berkey moved into third on the last
two laps as he also got by Alexander and Uhler. Heat winners were J.R.
Gentry, Alexander, and Markham.
