Rain wins Saturday at Port Royal
PORT ROYAL, PA (July 17,
1999) - Rain visited the Port Royal Speedway Saturday night, July 17, around 5
p.m. Showers continued for over two hours, forcing cancellation of the evenings
racing program.
The speedway returns to action Saturday night, July 24, with a three-division
program of Late Models, Sprint Cars and a make-up Ladies Powder Puff event.
Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing at 7.
Late Model fans will want to be on hand for tbe open competition "Run What
Ya Brung" Late Model event which features open tires and open motors.
Competitors will receive 55 appearance points as per the Port Royal Speedway
rule book. The high-powered racers will run 30 laps for a $2,000 top prize. A
regular program will be included for the Sprint Cars, affording area fans a
chance to see two great shows at the Juniata County oval.
In other speedway news, officials note the ARDC Midget show on August 7 has been
removed from the schedule. Port Royal Speedway and ARDC plan to continue to work
together in the future and further details will be announced at a later date.
